Here's our Barclays Premier league Team of The Week for Gameweek 2!
Formation 4-4-1-1
GK- Ali Al Habsi- Wigan keep a clean sheet and secure a win in the opening few PL weeks, and they have Al Habsi to thank, a few top class saves meant the Oman stopper pips Michel Vorm this week.
RB- Rafael- Brazilian Rafael had a lively game, contributing in attack and also defence, he is still learning, but going forward he provides such a good outlet for the midfielders.
CB- Ryan Shawcross- Stoke's defense is, in a word, brutal. However, it seems to work and Shawcross was vital in keeping a clean sheet against the opposition's attacking 'Arsenal'.
CB- Martin Skrtel- Despite the obvious mistake, we overlook that and include Liverpool's star defender as every other aspect of his performance was good. The power generated on his header was simply unstoppable.
LB- Glen Johnson- Like Rafael, Johnson is a menace going forward but also had a solid defensive display, this all round effort sees him on our team.
LM- Eden Hazard- What a start for the Belgian and his Chelsea career, another impressive performance and the statistic of 1 goal and 6 assists in 3 games puts him in our side again.
CM- Joe Allen- Running the Liverpool midfield is a tough job, Allen managed that with aplomb on Sunday, showing skill that will surely see him become a regular starter at Anfield.
CM- Steven Pienaar- Everton may have made an inspired signing (albeit for the third time) as Pienaar had a terrific game, scoring a stunner and creating several chances.
RM- Wayne Routledge- Years as a fringe player haven't helped his PL career however, he showed pace and energy that should see him feature a lot more this season at Swansea.
CF- Moussa Dembele- This guy is a serious player. He seems to have so much time on the ball and can easily see off a defender or regain possession. A fine performance against United sees him gain a place in the TOTW.
ST- Fernando Torres- Is he back? Fernando capped a very good performance with a well taken goal and looked to be playing closer to his best than he has for several months.
Subs- Vorm, Cahill, Baines, Britton, Mata, Suarez,
Manager- Michael Laudrup
